Offham Primary School prides itself in being a traditional village school, while providing modern technology and an environment that allows pupils and staff to excel.
All classrooms have interactive white boards and provide a spacious environment for pupils to learn. Every classroom has an outside area directly available to use as well as the school grounds. Children use the large planters in their outside areas to grow seasonal fruits and vegetables, which we serve in our school kitchen.
Our Library was refurbished by the PTFA in 2014. It was carefully designed to encourage pupils to develop a love for reading. All Pupils have a library slot once a week and classes regularly use it for research. At lunchtimes a variety of clubs run in the library. Each year the PTFA give the library £500 to ensure that we always have the latest releases availbale to inspire new generations of book worms!
Our new kitchen for 2015 means that we are now able to cook healthy and nutritional meals on site. The children's own produce is often used in the preparation of our meals. We have a family service style dining expereince, with packed luches and school dinners eating together and mixed year group tables. At lunchtime we focus on teaching good table manners and encourage polite conversation.
Our versatile hall is always busy with lunches and lessons. Specialised P.E teachers ensure gym lessons involve the large apparatus to develop pupils’ confidence and ability. The stage is always up enabling pupils to practice their public speaking and acting skills on a regular basis. In 2016 we updated our school sound system to provide a state of the art listening experience.
Developing musicians at Offham is very important. Every year groups learns to play a musical instrument culminating in Year 6 becoming an orchestra. Our dedicated music room means the choir, small group or 1:1 lessons can be carried out in a great environment.
In 2016 we developed our sensory room, a designated space for children with additional needs to use for small group learning sessions and calming activities. Our play therapist Susie works with children in the sensory room once a week, promoting our pupils overall well-being.
Outdoor Learning Environment
We have a perfect location in the rural countryside in Kent; surrounded by fields and woods. Our curriculum is inspired by our setting and all pupils can be regularly seen learning through the outdoor environment come rain or shine.
In 2016 we developed our offham well-being area. With our school chickens and guinea pigs to help look after, this is the perfect outdoor learning space to help children to feel calm and settled, encourage talk and also to teach our children about future sustainability.
Bank Play Area
New for 2017! We are delighted to have opened our new bank playarea. Designed and built by EarthWrights (the company who design play areas for the national trust), this exciting and innovative outdoor play area encourages physical strength and agility, team work and safe risk taking.
