Homework
Homework will be sent home each Friday.
A list of spellings or 'sounds of the week' will be sent home to practice. In KS2 they will have a written test the following Friday. There will also be an optional spelling sheet for KS2.
We will also expect the children to log onto Numbots and/or TT Rockstars to complete some maths fluency practice.
Daily reading is also a very important part in your child’s learning journey. This can be reading their school reading book and/or enjoying a reading for pleasure book of their choice.
This will be sent out on Class Dojo by your class teacher on Fridays.
Remember to name your child’s property
A reminder that lost items are far more likely to return to their owners if they are clearly named! That includes any pens, pencil cases, lunch boxes etc as well as clothes.
Optional Home Learning Tasks to support our learning in terms 1 and 2
1) Create your own computer game on either Scratch or Purple Mash to show off your coding skills and creativity!! Get others to test your game and then debug and build on it!
2) Draw a detailed Kent airbase that existed during the Second World War and label important features. You may then want to create a fact file or a presentation to share some amazingly interesting facts about the airbase you have researched. Why stop at one!?
3) Create a 3D model of a volcano and try to make elephant’s toothpaste to make it look like your volcano is erupting. Write a report about what it must have felt like to live near the volcano when it erupted. You could also write an ingredients list – how can you make the volcano eruption more explosive?
4) Draw a comic strip showing a character going on an adventure across the rooftops of a city of your choosing. What might your characters see? Are there any famous landmarks they might pass? What might they smell? Alternatively, you could write your own story set on rooftops.
5) Junk-modelling! Can you use recyclable materials to create your own new piece of technology? Draw your own designs for a new device, whether it is for communicating with friends, playing games or listening to music. Make a 3D prototype and write a speech to persuade people to buy it.
6) Pick a specific volcanic eruption or earthquake. Research the location, magnitude, causes, consequences and responses for your chosen natural disaster and make a fact-file or presentation about it. Again, why stop at one!?
Many thanks,
