Friday 19 July 2024 Year 6 Production The Year 6 children performed an excellent production of 'Porridge' where they really portrayed their characters well and were confident on the stage with fantastic singing and acting. The script was also humorous and children delivered their lines superbly. Everyone was very proud of them ! Well done Year 6 !

Thursday 11 July 2024 Year 5 Geography Field Trip to Manor Park Year 5 completed their Geography unit this week with a walk to Manor Park following directions they had created using their OS maps and compass skills. Not even the rain (or getting a little lost!) dampened their spirits! They were rewarded for their hard work with a little play at the park. Well done year 5.

Friday 5 July 2024 Year 3 Trip to Horton Kirby We were very lucky with the weather today for Green Class's visit to Horton Kirby today to explore and build their understanding of settlements and how these have changed over time. They took a walk around the village, where children searched for clues to understand land use and used their compass skills to find the direction we needed to go. They engaged in discussions about the advantages and disadvantages o constructing new buildings where they then drew what they would build in the area of Horton Kirby. During their walk, children took part in 'Poohsticks' and watched who's stick was the first to cross under the bridge. The trip finished off with a hands-on activity, where they used mud and Lego to create their own 3D model of a map. Thank you to all the parent helpers for this trip, it is very much appreciated!

Friday 5 July 2024 Year 6 Police Day This week Year 6 had a fabulous day on Monday where they went to the Kent Police Day. The class explored police vehicles, how to safe safe, played games on a gaming bus (learning about online safety) and saw a demonstration by the incredibly talented police dogs.

Friday 21 June 2024 Digital Leaders - Beyond blocking and reporting Our Digital Leaders also led a fantastic assembly this week called 'Beyond blocking and reporting.' Often children say that they stay safe online by blocking and reporting and so the Digital Leaders decided to get under the surface of this and make sure that everyone knows a lot more ! For example they talked about phishing scams and malware. Well done to the Digital Leaders !

Friday 21 June 2024 Year 6 Dragons Den We had an inspirational event on Monday where Year 6 were grilled by a set of 'dragons' in their very first 'Dragon's Den' event. Thank you to the parents and grandparents that made this possible and came along to be part of the superb dragons panel; Mr Christodouloulou, Mrs Scott, Mrs Patel and Mrs Stepney. Well done to Year 6 for working as collaborative teams to design and run their stalls. Thank you to everyone for coming along this afternoon to support their stalls on the playground. I am sure the children will be delighted at the money they have raised for the charities that they chose. It looks like they have raised a considerable amount !

Friday 14 June 2024 Year 6 Safety in Action Year 6 have taken part in a variety of activities to help enrich their understanding of safety in preparation for secondary school. They visited Safety in Action on Monday and also had a police transition talk on Thursday in the classroom. The children learnt a lot more detail about healthy eating, safe choices from electricity, risky/not risky choices from the police for example. The police visit in class on Thursday went into more detail about worries and fears for secondary school and what we can do to alleviate the pressures and worries moving forward.

Friday 7 June 2024 Year 6 PGL to Windmill Hill Year 6 have enjoyed an exciting week away at Windmill Hill in East Sussex. The children have had an amazing time and been a real credit to the school. They have conquered Jacob's Ladder, orienteered around the site, enjoyed a camp fire, a sports tournament, Cluedo, fencing, canoeing and so much more! Staff on the trip were so proud of everyone climbing to new heights (literally) and showing the Offham value of resilience. Well done Year 6. They will certainly have wonderful memories to keep. Thank you to Miss Johnson, Miss Graham and Mr Cook for accompanying the children on the trip and looking after them so well.

Friday 3 May 2024 Assembly with Councillor Taylor On Thursday, children were delighted to meet Councillor Sue Taylor from Offham Parish Council in assembly.

Friday 3 May 2024 Assembly with Ms Matthews - Acting in the West End Mrs Matthews came into Offham on Tuesday to tell us all about her career in acting and on the stage. She told us how Cosette from Les Misérables sparked her passion for acting. She then went to a drama specialist secondary school where she did 60% academic and 40% acting and drama. They were long days until 6.30pm.We saw all the shows and plays that she has been part of - The Witches, Miss Saigon and Evita.

Friday 26 April 2024 Reading Ambassadors This week, our Year 6 Reading Ambassadors opened up the grotto at lunchtimes, and also set up a reading space for children to share a book. It was delightful to see so many children listening to a story and to see our Year 6s enjoy their responsibility. The grotto will be open every lunch as a quiet space for readers, and our Reading Ambassadors will be out on the field!

Friday 26 April 2024 Year 5 Residential to Bowles Activity Centre This week our Year 5 children have had a fabulous experience. They visited the Bowles Activity Centre this week for their first ever residential trip. They have enjoyed so many new things including dry slope skiing, the leap of faith, raft building and rock climbing.

Friday 29 March 2024 The Easter Experience Children in Years 5 and 6 visited St Michael's Church in Offham on Tuesday to take part in the 'Easter Experience' and learn about what Christians believe at Easter.

Thursday 28 March 2024 Easter Celebrations Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the Easter fun and celebrations today. EYFS and KS1 were invited to make an Easter Bonnet, Year 3 and 4 an Easter Garden and Year 5 and 6 decorated Easter eggs.

Sunday 24 March 2024 PTFA Park Run We had a fantastic PTFA 2k Park Run at West Malling Manor Park on Sunday morning. Lots of children and parents came along to support and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Everyone did really well completing the 2k and showing the Offham value of resilience !

Friday 22 March 2024 Silver Stories This week we were delighted to start our participation in the ‘Silver Stories’ scheme with our Reading Ambassadors. Silver Stories in a national charity that enables communication across generations where by school age children read on the phone weekly to an elderly person to combat loneliness.

Friday 15 March 2024 Sports for Champions We welcomed this year's athlete Chris Tawiah for an inspiring whole school assembly explaining his career to date. The children listened and engaged with some interesting facts. As well as some great demonstrations of basketball skills too from Chris and some keen volunteers.

Friday 15 March 2024 Netball Tournament On Thursday, Offham competed at the Malling Schools KS2 Netball Tournaments, sponsored by Kent Teach, in collaboration with School Games held at Aylesford School.

Friday 15 March 2024 Science Week This week has been ' British Science Week' and our science leader, Mrs Terry delivered science focused assemblies to both key stages on the theme of 'time'. Children have also engaged with science learning in their home learning with science week activities to try out at home too. Thank you to everyone who has taken part.

Friday 8 March 2024 World Book Day We all travelled into the wonderful world of reading and celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. As we were all dressed up as different characters, we all got into role (even staff!) and had a fantastic time reading and discussing our favourite books and characters. It was lovely to see such a range of characters such as Mr Strong from the Mr Men, Mickey Mouse, Hermione Granger, Verucca Salt and Willy Wonka !

Friday 1 March 2024 PTFA Reading Challenge The PTFA are so excited to announce the OFFHAM READING CHALLENGE! We have worked so hard with teachers and local businesses to create 20 exciting challenges all around our love of reading. Please do ask friends and family for sponsors - you might like to sponsor your child for the total number of challenges completed, the number of pages read... The choices are open! The reading ambassadors will collect running totals of the number of challenges each class has read, and there will be a prize for the class that completes the most challenges!

Friday 1 March 2024 EYFS Stay and Play We had a wonderful afternoon on Monday with parents and carers who came to our EYFS Stay and Play. Children really enjoyed sharing their learning with their parents and showing them all the exciting resources in the indoor and outdoor EYFS environment.

Friday 1 March 2024 Premier League Experience On Tuesday, Mrs Molyneux visited us for a careers assembly. It was fantastic to hear about her career over the last twenty years in football as an Event Manager for the Premiership. Mrs Molyneux has visited places all over the world !

Friday 23 February 2024 NSPCC Stay Safe Speak Out We are pleased to be participating in the NSPCC’s Speak out Stay safe programme next week. Speak out Stay safe is a programme for children aged 5-11 which aims to help children understand abuse in all its forms and to recognise the signs of abuse.

Friday 23 February 2024 Visit from Kent Fire and Rescue Rainbows had a fascinating visit from the Fire Service today and learnt all about the fire engine, fire safety and saw all the equipment.

Friday 23 February 2024 Careers Assembly with Mr Phipps We were delighted to welcome Mr Phipps into our careers assembly on Tuesday. He spoke to KS2 about his career as a nurse and how he had tried his hand at many different aspects of nursing and caring before deciding to be a consultant nurse. He talked so passionately about his roles and the photos provided a real excitement about what nursing could involve. We are confident that this may have ignited a passion in some of our children to become the next generation of nurses!
